Partner Organizations
We cooperate with a number of business associations, local and national governments, and interenational organizations to achieve our objectives, which are:
- Promote the development of trade and investment between the United States and Vietnam.
- Provide a forum where American businesses in Vietnam can identify and discuss common interests regarding commercial activities in Vietnam
- Work with organizations in Vietnam on matters of mutual interest
- Maintain relations with chambers of commerce in the United States and other chambers of commerce or commercial organizations
U.S. Business Associations
AmCham Vietnam is a member of the Asia-Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce, (APCAC), which was formed in 1968 . Through 25 member AmChams, APCAC represents the growing interests of over 50,000 business executives and over 10,000 business entities in 20 economies of the Asia-Pacific region. The APCAC membership manages trade volumes in excess of US$400 billion and direct investments (FDI) of over US$200 billion.
AmCham Vietnam cooperates on trade and investment policy issues with two business councils headquarted in Washington, DC: the U.S.-Vietnam Trade Council and the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council.
Since 1996, AmCham Vietnam in HCM City has been a Member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which represents 3,000,000 businesses, 2,800 state and local chambers, 830 business associations, and 102 American Chambers of Commerce in 82 countries. AmCham and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are partners with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in a Vietnam-U.S. Business Forum, based on Memoranda of Understanding signed 13 June 2006 and 16 November 2006.

Provinces in the “Southern Key Economic Zone”
According to the government indicative planning, the southern key economic region, including eight provinces including Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc, Long An, Tay Ninh, Tien Giang, is expected to account for 41 peercent of Vietnam’s GDP by 2010 and 44 per cent by 2020.
The indicative planning calls for the Southern Key Economic Zone to take the nation’s lead in industrialization and modernization, and become the economic, financial and trading hub of the whole nation and Southeast Asia as well.
