Apparel and Footwear

Mission Statement
Promote the healthy development of trade in Apparel and Footwear between Vietnam and the U.S. as well as other countries by facilitating communication, education, and collaboration with all relevant stakeholders in Vietnam’s private and public sector, and within the AmCham community of businesses.

Discuss trade and industrial relations issues within and affecting Vietnam exports of apparel and footwear as well as Vietnam imports of raw materials and components.

Enhance Vietnam’s overall reputation as an Apparel & Footwear source by helping it to maintain a competitive advantage relative to neighboring countries.

Human Resources

Mission: Monitor and report on personnel, employment, and human resource developlment issues in Vietnam in general and in AmCham member firms in particular. Activities include:

IT Information Technology

Board Liaison: Tom Siebert, Indochina Land

Mission: Help expand sales of AmCham member firms’ ICT goods and services and help new-to-market members develop. Serve as a forum and focal point to discuss and review industry and government ICT developments. Provide industry positions and viewpoints on relevant sectoral issues. Build the bandwidth of communication between industry in Vietnam and industry in US and increase business between the two. Projects include: (1) develop information for prospective outsourcing customers and (2) develop information needed for new investors’ market entry decisions.

Legal & VBF Liaison

Vice Chair Ms. Orsolya Szotyory-Grove

Mission: Monitors and strives to influence legislation and administrative regulations in Vietnam. The committee conducts seminar and speaker programs designed to increase awareness of major legal issues and also serves as a focus for the American law firms in Vietnam. In addition, the committee actively participates in the work of the “Vietnam Business Forum,” along with other international business associations and Vietnamese authorities, to help improve the environment for foreign direct investment in Vietnam.

2009 Meetings, Background and Reference Materials

Logistics & Supply Chain Management

Promotes the development of the logistics and supply chain management industry within Vietnam. To achieve this, the committee will focus on the following key areas:

  • Global, Regional and US regulatory issues affecting member companies – ease of trade and development of the logistics and supply chain infrastructure.
  • Share and leverage industry best practices to promote the value of Vietnam as a developing market for the logistics and supply chain and related industries.
  • Create an additional learning channel for companies not directly involved in the logistics and supply chain industry but also shippers and manufacturers that engage in or manage related logistics and/or supply chain functions in their businesses.

Tourism and Travel

Includes representatives of the travel and tourism industry: hotels, travel agencies, airlines, etc. Works to develop cooperative programs involving Vietnam’s public and private sector to develop Vietnam’s tourism infrastructure and to market Vietnam as a destination, especially with respect to business and leisure travelers from the United States and American companies in the region.
