Michael Beckman
Partner, Ernst & Young Vietnam Michael currently leads the law firm of EY Vietnam, a fast growing team of 25 corporate lawyers based in Ho Chi Minh City. EY Law Hanoi should also open by mid-November. EY Law Global has over 3,550 lawyers in 92 offices around the world, and now intends to expand quickly throughout ASEAN. Michael will head this expansion process in Indochina. Michael has over 20 years’ experience in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and corporate law. Prior to joining EY, Michael worked as a corporate attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York, London and Los Angeles, as well as Debevoise & Plimpton in New York, focusing on international corporate bankruptcy, securities and M&A work. He is a member of the bar of New York and California and is a licensed foreign lawyer in Vietnam. Outside of law, Michael worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company in their pharmaceutical practice group and managed his own hedge funds for a decade. Michael graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University, received his M.A. from Princeton University and his J.D. from Yale Law School. He also studied at both Cambridge University in the UK and Georg-August University in Germany. |
Minh Nguyen Country Manager, Vietnam, Aetna International Minh Nguyen is an Innovative Executive in Healthcare and Insurance services. Her current job is as Country Manager of Aetna International, a CVS Health company, partnering with Bao Viet General Insurance in Vietnam. She has nearly 20 years’ experience in leadership roles in insurance in emerging markets, fronting partnership, general management responsibilities ensuring operational excellence, merging and acquisitions, distribution management, talent development and driving profitable growth. Her previous employment was at American International Group (AIG) (profit center management), Prudential Insurance (distribution management), APAVE Consulting (enterprises quality certification consulting) and Taylor Nelson Sofres (media research). She graduated with honors at Foreign Trade University, hold a Master of Science, Bournemouth University, United Kingdom and EE, Global Healthcare Leadership at Harvard Medical School. She has been volunteering at recent committees: APAC Aetna WISE (Women Inspiring Success and Excellence (WISE) with event series to embrace D&I, drive changes and create platforms to support women’s opportunities around the region. Member of Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce, HCM chapter in Vietnam since 2018 up to now, including as its Vice Chair and EXCOM committee in 2019. Co-founder of Women in Leadership Committee and continue to serve as its Board liaison and Co-Chair. Vice Chair for Private Insurance committee of Amcham Healthcare committee. Strategic Planning Advisor for Private Insurance/Payer groups & participate in several projects relating to Quality Healthcare improvement for Vietnam and advising in the promising Health/Med Tech, InsurTech start-ups She has been most proud of the courage she had for Himalayan mountain trekking, Son Doong largest cave discovery and back packing the Ha Giang’s trail. She also motivates the growth of young females & women leadership during her career by Sponsoring the Youth Talent and Women Engineering Scholarship Fund and giving lectures at local universities, giving coaching programs of leadership skills for mid-entry young women leaders. She also is a wellbeing leader by joining in many virtual and offline marathon races, a core member of Vietnamese women’s golf club and inspire the women community for a healthy lifestyle change. |
Mary Tarnowka
Executive Director, AmCham Vietnam Mary Tarnowka joined AmCham Vietnam as Executive Director in August 2019. She continues to carry out AmCham’s long-term mission to strengthen the U.S.-Vietnam trade and investment partnership and serve as the “voice of American business” in Vietnam, established when it was founded informally just after the trade embargo was lifted in 1994. Under her leadership, AmCham Vietnam has been revitalized. It is one of the largest, diverse, and inclusive foreign business associations in Vietnam. Its network of active committees and extensive range of events provide members valuable opportunities for professional networking, business intelligence, advocacy, and business promotion. Mary is an international trade and economic expert with decades of experience managing organizations and policy advocacy in Asia. As a career diplomat and member of the Senior Foreign Service, Mary has served throughout the Indo-Pacific region, including postings in Seoul, Delhi, Shanghai, and Taipei, as well as at the State Department’s China Desk and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. Before joining the State Department, Mary worked as a CPA and Tax Manager at KPMG’s San Francisco Office. Mary also serves as a Director on the Board of VinaCapital GS Energy. |
